Efforts to form an Africa Forum for Development-Induced Displacements (AfDiD) are being pursued by the Matabeleland Institute for Human Rights (MIHR).\u00a0 A steering committee comprising members from Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, and Tanzania has been created and has drafted a working document and \u2018basic constitution\u2019 for the forum. The forum is meant to gather community based organizations from affected communities and enhance regional solidarity and non-violent activism promoting justice about development-induced displacements in Africa.\u00a0 MIHR\u2014 a grantee of the Feyerabend Foundation in 2021\u2014 currently provides the Secretariat of the Forum and will welcome any expression of interest and support.<\/p>\n
MIHR has championed advocacy for fair relocation processes and adequate compensation for affected communities in Zimbabwe.
